Handlebars removed from the stem with a little persuasion.
Bottom bracket and head set removed, apart from the fixed bearing cups. These will be cleaned and may be reused if not too worn or damaged. So far there seems to be little evidence of pitting, and no sign of cracks. If they look too worn it may be worth getting the local bike shop to extract the remaining fixtures and fit sealed bearing head set and bottom bracket.

Somewhat neglected Dawes Galaxy.
In 1984 I bought a Dawes Galaxy. It served me very well, seeing two trips to France and many miles commuting across Bristol. It has now spent about 20 years in the back of the garage but I'm going to try and rebuild it. No promises; it may not work or (more probably) I might lack the skills. Current state as below.
